Close to 25,000 Lost Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Around twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events impacted the region, generating wind gusts hitting 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Residents reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews deployed to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victoria's Weather Woes
At the same time, approximately one thousand households in Victoria also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred emergency reports across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

- Hoppers Crossing area - numerous emergency calls
- Wyndham region - 179 calls for assistance
At the height on the previous day, in excess of 28k energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across different parts of both regions.
Medical Alert
Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the region.
